Lisbon – –
Manuel Neuer naturally celebrates FC Bayern Munich’s success in the Champions League. But a new party in Marseille instead of Lisbon?
Neuer managed to lead his colleagues at Bayern to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the Estadio Da Luz on Monday (24.8.2020) early in the morning of the WIB. The Reds won 1-0 thanks to Kingsley Coman’s goal in the 59th minute.
For Neuer, this is his second Champions League trophy after the first in 2013. As seven years ago, Neuer also helped Bayern win the three-time winners of this season after winning the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup.
Neuer deserves to be cited as the key to Bayern’s sixth Champions League title as he works hard to save his net from the onslaught of PSG strikers like Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria.
One of them was in the 18th minute when he blocked Neymar’s shot from close range in a duel with an opponent. Of course, Neuer celebrated a lot with his teammates after the trophy was handed over.
Like today’s footballers, Neuer also uploaded a photo on his Instagram account in which he won the Champions League trophy. But there is something unique about Neuer’s upload that mentions the location of the title ceremony in the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
Yes, the stadium is not the last venue this time around, but the home of Marseille, PSG’s rivals in Ligue 1. Perhaps Neuer wants to purposely make fun of PSG’s failure to win the Champions League. As a result, Marseille are still the only French team to win the competition in 1993.
Neuer’s upload also received mixed responses from his followers, most of whom were happy with the 34-year-old goalkeeper. What nonsense, Manuel Neuer!
